AUSTIN, Texas — In May 2020, ABC Home & Commercial Services pledged to donate a portion of its sales to local food banks through June, 2020, resulting in $82,380 in donations, which provided nearly 330,000 meals across Texas.
The program, Project Help Our Neighbors, which started May 18, 2020, consisted of donating $20 of each new ongoing service agreement with ABC.
“The ABC family was excited to start Project Help Our Neighbors,” said Bobby Jenkins, owner of ABC. “We are fortunate to remain open as an essential business throughout COVID-19, and are happy we’re able to help our local food banks and our neighbors in need. We appreciate all our customers who have supported us and are proud we are able to make these meaningful donations for our communities.”
ABC has offices and satellite offices in Austin, Bastrop, Bryan/College Station, Corpus Christi, Georgetown, Marble Falls, San Antonio, San Marcos and Temple/Belton. The company donated to the Central Texas Food Bank, Brazos Valley Food Bank, Coastal Bend Food Bank and the San Antonio Food Bank, as well as the food pantries that operate in conjunction with the food banks.
ABC surpassed its goal of contributing $50,000 total to the four food banks by donating $58,080 for the Central Texas Food Bank; $5,380 for the Brazos Valley Food Bank; $7,020 for the Coastal Bend Food Bank; and $11,900 for the San Antonio Food Bank. ABC will be presenting the checks to the four food banks starting July 13th.
“The increased demand for our services brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic has stretched our resources to the limit,” said Derrick Chubbs, president and CEO of the Central Texas Food Bank. “This program from our friends at ABC Home & Commercial Services demonstrates the value of a truly caring community during these challenging times. Thank you, ABC. For each of these $20 donations, we’ll be able to provide 80 meals to our neighbors in need.”
