TROY, Mich. – Rose Pest Solutions announced that Joe Flood, Cleveland district manager, has earned the prestigious Board Certified Entomologist (BCE) title. Flood has worked with Rose Pest Solutions since 2007 and was promoted to his current position of district manager in 2018.

According to the Entomological Society of America (ESA), there are only 30 Board Certified Entomologists serving in Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio – the three states that make up Rose’s footprint – which makes Flood unique with his BCE designation. As part of his certification, he will perform ongoing, educational training requirements throughout the year and ascribe to a code of ethical behavior set forth by the ESA.

“The knowledge, presence and demeanor that Joe brings is integral to the service we provide in the greater Cleveland area,” said Russ Ives, chairman and CEO of Rose Pest Solutions. “His distinction as a Board Certified Entomologist showcases his passion and expertise for the pest control industry.”

As a recognized BCE, Flood helps elevate Rose’s dedication as a good global citizen in keeping environmental impact and human safety at the forefront of its daily operations. He is the sixth Board Certified Entomologist on Rose’s staff. The company employs ten Associate Certified Entomologists (ACEs) as well.

“I am grateful to work for a company that prides itself in investing in its employees,” said Flood. “Rose believes in professional development and encourages the staff in continued lifelong learning. It’s a major reason why I enjoy being part of the Rose team.”

In his role as the Cleveland district manager, Flood oversees all aspects of district operations such as client satisfaction and quality control. He lives in Akron, Ohio and is also responsible for recruiting, interviewing, selecting and training new employees who join the Rose Pest Solutions team in the greater Cleveland area.

Flood started as an intern with the company in 2007, and the following year, while studying at Michigan State University, he worked seasonally in the mosquito abatement department within the Saginaw, Michigan district. He earned his entomology degree in 2009 and was hired by Rose full-time as a service technician in 2010. Flood served as Rose’s municipal mosquito coordinator in the Saginaw service area for four years. He was promoted to training supervisor in 2014 and then to district supervisor before beginning his tenure in Cleveland. Flood has also served on the planning and scientific committees of the Michigan Mosquito Association and studied business courses at the University of Michigan.

“It has been a privilege watching Joe mature into the technical, sound professional that he is today,” said Mike Rogers, the district manager who oversees Rose Pest Solutions’ operations in the Saginaw, Michigan market. “From his first day as a seasonal mosquito technician to his role as a district manager today, Joe has made sure that whatever he does generates effective results for the client. I congratulate him in earning his BCE designation, and I look forward to what’s next for him in his pest management career with Rose.”
